Driveshaft, U-joint & balancing
Driveshaft, U-joint and balancing service clears vibration and noise from the drivetrain on rear-wheel and 4WD vehicles.
What it is and how we do it
The driveshaft sends power from the gearbox to the differential on rear-wheel and all-wheel-drive vehicles. It spins at high speed and relies on U-joints and a healthy center bearing, and on being well balanced. We inspect play in the U-joints, the center bearing, balance and supports.
Depending on the case we replace U-joints, the center bearing or the driveshaft itself, and balance it to remove vibration. We serve domestic and imported vehicles.
Symptoms and when to come in
Vibration that grows with speed, a metallic noise when moving off, a clunk when engaging gear and shudder through the floor are typical signs of a worn U-joint or an unbalanced shaft. A clunk on acceleration and deceleration also deserves attention.
A badly worn U-joint can seize or drop the driveshaft while driving — a serious risk. It is worth investigating vibration early.
Why it matters and why Mr. Service
An unbalanced driveshaft or worn U-joint wears bearings and the differential, and hurts comfort and safety. Fixing it in time protects more expensive parts downstream.
In Chácara Santo Antônio, we diagnose the real source of the vibration, approve the quote first, give a 3-month warranty, serve all brands and speak Portuguese, English and Turkish.
Frequently asked questions
- Is the vibration the driveshaft or the wheels?
- We test to separate the causes; not every vibration is the driveshaft.
- Can just the U-joint be replaced?
- If the shaft is good, yes; we assess and advise the cheaper option.
- Does it need balancing after?
- Whenever needed we balance it to remove any residual vibration.
