Differential repair and fluid service silences noises and protects the gears that split power between the wheels.
What it is and how we do it
The differential distributes power to the wheels while letting them turn at different speeds in corners. It runs in its own oil, which lubricates gears and bearings under heavy load. We check for play, noise, the oil condition and any leaks at the seals.
We do everything from a simple change of the specified fluid to repairing bearings, seals and adjusting the crown wheel and pinion when worn. We serve domestic and imported vehicles, with the correct additive when the differential requires it.
Symptoms and when to come in
A whine or howl that changes with speed, clunks in corners, shudder and oil leaking around the differential are warning signs. Very dark oil or metal filings also call for attention.
The maker’s recommended interval and heavy use (towing, loads, dirt roads) make the fluid change even more important to prevent premature wear.
