CV boot replacement
Replacing the CV boot protects the joint in time, avoiding a much bigger axle repair later.
What it is and how we do it
The CV boot is the rubber cover that keeps grease inside the CV joint and dirt out. It is a cheap part with a critical job: while it is intact, the joint lasts. We remove the damaged boot, clean the joint, apply fresh specific grease and fit the correct boot with good clamps.
While there we inspect the joint inside — if it is still in good shape, a simple boot change solves it. We do this on domestic and imported cars.
Symptoms and when to come in
A cracked or torn boot, grease sprayed on the inner side of the wheel and on the floor, or a noise appearing in turns are warning signs. Often the fault is spotted during a routine service or oil change.
Timing is everything here: a boot changed promptly protects the joint; left split for weeks, the joint gets contaminated and then needs replacing.
