Parking brake adjustment
A parking brake adjustment makes sure the car holds firmly on a slope, with no slack and no binding.
What it is and how we do it
The parking brake can be lever, pedal or electronic, usually acting on the rear wheels. With use the cables stretch, the mechanism goes out of adjustment or, on electronic systems, the actuator needs calibration. We check the travel, cable condition, the actuation points and, when electronic, read the codes with a scanner.
We adjust cable tension, lubricate the moving points and set the mechanism; on electronic brakes we perform the proper recalibration. We serve domestic and imported cars.
Symptoms and when to come in
A lever that rises too far without holding the car, a brake that does not lock the wheel, the car slipping on a slope, or a parking-brake light on in electronic systems are clear signs it needs adjustment.
It is also common to notice the issue after a rear brake service, since the parking brake often shares components with the service brake.
Why it matters and why Mr. Service
A weak parking brake is a real risk of the car rolling away when parked. It is a simple adjustment with a big impact on safety and often solves the problem without replacing parts.
In Chácara Santo Antônio, we diagnose the cause, adjust precisely, give a detailed quote, a 3-month warranty, serve all brands and speak Portuguese, English and Turkish.
Frequently asked questions
- Does adjustment alone solve it?
- Often yes; if the cable or mechanism is worn, we advise replacement.
- Can an electronic brake be adjusted?
- Yes; we recalibrate with a scanner when the system requires it.
- Worth checking after a rear brake job?
- Yes; it usually needs readjustment after that service.
