A brake pad replacement restores firm, quiet braking, with the rotors assessed in the same service.
What it is and how we do it
The pads are the friction material that presses the rotor to brake. They wear with use and need periodic replacement. We measure thickness, check for uneven wear, clean and lubricate the caliper slide points and inspect the rotor, which always works together with them.
We use pads suited to your car — domestic or imported — and bed them in correctly after the change. If the rotor is within spec, we make the most of it; if it is at its limit, we explain the options.
Symptoms and when to come in
Squealing or grinding when braking, the metal wear indicator scraping, a pedal needing more travel and longer stopping distance are signs of worn pads. Many cars have a sensor that lights a dashboard warning.
Driving with pads at their end lets the metal attack the rotor, turning a simple change into a much costlier job. Coming in early pays off.
