Water pump

The water pump circulates coolant through the engine; when it fails, overheating is only minutes away.

What it is and how we do it

The water pump is driven by a belt (timing or accessory) and keeps coolant flowing constantly between the engine and the radiator. We check for seal leaks, bearing play, noise and signs of impeller wear.

On many engines the pump sits behind the timing belt; in that case we may recommend replacing pump and belt kit together, avoiding opening the same area twice and reducing labour cost.

Symptoms and when to come

Coolant leaking near the belt, bearing noise, unstable temperature and a sweet coolant smell. A pump that starts to whine or drip should be seen before it leaves you stranded.

Why it matters and why Mr. Service

If the pump seizes with the engine hot, the risk of cylinder head damage is immediate. At Mr. Service we diagnose precisely, advise replacing it with the belt when it makes sense, serve imported and domestic cars of all brands, quote before starting and back labour with a 3-month warranty. We speak Portuguese, English and Turkish.
