Computer diagnostics (OBD scanner)

Computer diagnostics reads your car’s electronic control units and shows the exact cause of a fault — before any part is replaced.

What computer diagnostics is

Every modern car is managed by electronic control units (ECUs) that monitor the engine, transmission, brakes, air conditioning and dozens of sensors in real time. When something falls outside the expected range, the ECU logs a fault code (DTC) and often turns on a dashboard light. Computer diagnostics means connecting a scanner to the vehicle’s OBD-II port and reading that data.

At Mr. Service we use latest-generation scanners that go beyond the generic code: they access each brand’s specific modules, read live sensor data and the fault history. That lets us understand not just “what” failed, but “why”.

Why do it before any repair

The same symptom can have several causes. Replacing parts “on a guess” is expensive and the problem usually returns. Proper diagnosis saves money because it points the repair at the real cause — you pay for what the car needs, not for trial and error.

It is also the starting point for the quote: with the diagnosis in hand, we send a detailed estimate and only start work after your approval.

When to get a diagnostic

A check-engine light, rising fuel consumption, loss of power, starting problems, unusual noises or vibrations, and any dashboard warning are all good reasons. On imported cars a diagnostic matters even more, because it needs a scanner that reads the brand’s modules.

Frequently asked questions

Does the diagnostic work on any brand?
Yes. We service domestic and imported cars; our scanner reads the modules of the main brands. Tell us the model and year when booking.
Do I have to leave the car all day?
In most cases the diagnostic is quick. If the fault is intermittent, more test time may be needed — we agree that with you first.
Does the diagnostic fix the problem?
The diagnostic identifies the cause. We then send the repair quote and, after your approval, carry out the work with a 3-month warranty.
