Check-engine light diagnosis
A lit check-engine light means the car has flagged something out of spec — we find the exact cause before replacing any part.
What we do
When the check-engine light comes on, the control unit has already logged one or more fault codes showing where the system drifted from normal. We connect a scanner to the OBD-II port, read those codes and review live sensor data to understand what is really happening.
At Mr. Service we do not stop at the code: we cross-check the reading with functional tests (sensors, fuel, ignition, intake) to confirm the cause. That way we never just clear the light and hand back a car with the same problem.
When to come in
The light can be steady or flashing. Flashing points to a more serious fault (such as a misfire) and needs immediate attention. Steady often comes with higher fuel use, power loss, rough idle or hard starting.
Ignoring the light can turn a simple repair into an expensive one, such as damaging the catalytic converter. The sooner the diagnosis, the lower the likely cost.
