Starter motor
The starter motor cranks the engine to start it; when it fails, the car will not start even with a good battery.
What it is and how we do it
The starter motor is triggered when you turn the key or press the button and gets the engine turning. We test the actuation, the solenoid and the electrical draw, confirming whether the fault is the starter, the battery or the control circuit.
Depending on wear, we assess repair (brushes, solenoid, drive gear) or replacement, always telling a starting fault apart from other electrical causes before quoting.
Symptoms and when to come
A clicking noise when you turn the key with no cranking, starting only on the second or third try, a grinding gear noise, or no sound at all. It usually worsens gradually until the car will not start.
