Power windows
Power windows that jam or will not close are both a nuisance and a safety risk; we find the cause before replacing a part.
What it is and how we do it
A power window runs on a motor and mechanism (regulator) controlled by a switch. We diagnose whether the fault is in the motor, the regulator, the switch, the fuse or the wiring, by testing the operation and watching for noise and window speed.
Often the problem is a worn regulator or burnt motor; other times it is just a bad switch contact or fuse. We confirm the source before recommending the correct part.
Symptoms and when to come
A window that rises slowly or jams halfway, grinding noise when operated, a window that lowers but will not rise, an unresponsive switch, and a window that drops on its own. A window that will not close is a safety issue, especially in the rain.
