Belts & hoses

Belts and hoses drive and carry the car’s vital systems — when they fail without warning, they can strand the car or damage the engine.

What it is and how we do it

The accessory belt drives the alternator, water pump and steering; the timing belt (or chain) synchronises the engine. Hoses carry coolant, fuel and vacuum.

We inspect belts for cracks, drying, slack, tension and alignment, plus tensioners and pulleys. On hoses we check for cracks, swelling, hardening and leaks, replacing per the manufacturer plan.

Symptoms and when to come in

Squealing on start-up or when steering, a worn or cracked belt, a soft or swollen hose, coolant on the ground and overheating all call for an immediate check.

Respect the timing-belt interval — its failure can be catastrophic on many engines. Check belts and hoses at every service and before long trips.

Why it matters and why Mr. Service

A snapped timing belt can bend valves and destroy the engine; a burst hose causes overheating in minutes. Prevention is far cheaper than repair.

At Mr. Service we inspect, advise what truly needs replacing and use the correct parts, on domestic and imported cars of all brands. Quote approved beforehand, a 3-month warranty on labour and service in Portuguese, English and Turkish.
