Springs and bump stops carry the car’s weight and limit suspension travel — when they fail, ride height, comfort and safety change immediately.
What it is and how it works
The coil spring supports the vehicle’s load and keeps the correct ride height; the bump stop prevents the suspension from bottoming out on hard hits, protecting the shock and the body.
At Mr. Service we measure ride height on both sides and look for broken, bent or sagging springs and cracked bump stops, always checking the whole suspension assembly.
Symptoms and when to come in
A car sitting low on one side, uneven height, clunks over potholes, harsh bottoming-out and a sagging rear under load all point to a tired spring or damaged bump stop.
Springs often break on rough roads; any metallic noise or height change is worth an inspection.

A compromised spring alters geometry, speeds up tire and shock wear and hurts braking and stability. A worn bump stop lets impacts hit the structure directly.
