Glow plug replacement (diesel)

Glow plugs help the diesel engine start, especially in the cold — when they fail, starting gets hard and the engine smokes.

What we do

Unlike petrol spark plugs, glow plugs (diesel) preheat the combustion chamber to ease starting, especially with a cold engine. We diagnose with a scanner, test the plugs and the control system and identify which are failing before replacement.

At Mr. Service we replace them carefully, respecting the correct torque and procedure, since glow plugs can be delicate to remove.

Warning signs

Hard cold starting, an engine slow to fire, white or black smoke at start-up, rough idle at first and a preheat-related warning light all point to a glow plug problem.

Driving with bad plugs strains starting and can worsen other points of the diesel engine. Replacing on time restores quick starts and reduces smoke.

Why Mr. Service

Correct diagnosis first, a detailed quote before any work and a 3-month warranty on labour. We service diesel engines of every brand, domestic and imported, with service in Portuguese, English and Turkish.

Frequently asked questions

Is a glow plug the same as a spark plug?
No. The glow plug is diesel and preheats the chamber; the spark plug is petrol. They are different parts and functions.
Do I need to replace them all?
It is usually advisable to replace the set for even starting. We confirm what is right for your engine in the quote.
Do you handle imported cars?
Yes, diesel engines of every brand. Tell us the model and year; 3-month warranty and a quote before the work.
