The tire pressure sensor (TPMS) warns you when a tire is off its correct pressure — safety and economy depend on it working.
What it is and how it works
TPMS monitors tire pressure and lights a dashboard alert when something is off. There are direct systems, with sensors inside each wheel, and indirect ones that use the ABS sensors. Sensors have an internal battery and a service life.
At Mr. Service we read the system with the right tool, test the sensors, and after a tire or sensor change we perform the relearn needed for the car to recognize the wheels.
Symptoms and when to come in
A lit or blinking TPMS light, pressure readings missing from the dash or wrong values point to a failing sensor, a dying battery or the need to reprogram after tire work.
Worth checking when changing tires, fitting different wheels and whenever the alert won’t clear even with correct pressure.
